ABOUT

MAR MORANNON

Mar is a multitalented artist in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with a deep passion for learning and trying new things. Over their life, they have studied a variety of disciplines and techniques, including everything from sewing to jazz dance, languages to engineering. In their creative endeavors today, they specialize in photography and performance.

PHOTOGRAPHY

As a photographer, Mar applies decades of experience behind the lens to capturing the beauty they see around them in every moment. Mar was first introduced to photography by their grandfather, who was a well-known and published railroad expert and photographer. As a child, they carried a camera EVERYWHERE trying to capture every moment they came across in life (but, in reality, mostly capturing blurry nonsense, their own fingers, and goofy photos of friends, family, and pets). In high school, Mar refined their technique with classes in drawing, painting, graphic design, videography, and photography to better understand the fundamentals of visual arts. For a few years in college, Mar worked part time as an events and portrait photographer and videographer before taking a few years off to adjust after relocating for a new job. They met a new friend and fellow photographer at a show in 2021, leading Mar to embark on a new and exhilarating journey to explore the world of live music photography and they’ve been completely dazzled by the scene ever since!

PERFORMANCE

As a performer, Mar blends over 20 years of circus experience with more than a decade of teaching. Their performance specialties include aerial dance disciplines such as trapeze, lyra, and silks as well as mastery in hula hooping and juggling. Mar’s performance style is dramatic and often silly, a continual tribute to the idea to never take life too seriously. As a circus instructor and coach, they blend a deep understanding of anatomy, body engagement and conditioning with a strong belief that your personal movement style is developed in the moments when you dance where no one is watching. Which is to say, when you move in the ways that feel comfortable and natural for YOU! In addition to circus performance, they can occasionally be caught around Milwaukee modeling, singing, or playing theremin.
